OPTIS—An Einstein Mission for Improved Tests of Special and General Relativity

چکیده
the isotropy and constancy of the speed of light, the time dilation (or Doppler effect), the universality of the gravitational redshift with various combinations of high precision clocks. Furthermore, laser tracking and a laser link allows a strongly improved measurement of the gravitomagnetic Lense–Thirring effect, of the gravitoelectric Einstein perigee advance, of the gravitational redshift, and a search for deviations from Newtonian gravity.

On the possibility of measuring relativistic gravitational effects with a LAGEOS–LAGEOS II–OPTIS–mission
A space mission, OPTIS, has been proposed for testing the foundations of Special Relativity and post–Newtonian gravitation in the field of Earth. The constraints posed on the original OPTIS orbital geometry would allow for a rather wide range of possibilities for the final OPTIS orbital parameters. This freedom could be exploited for further tests of post-Newtonian gravity. In this paper we wis...

When Einstein was thinking about the theory of general relativity based on the elimination of especial relativity constraints (especially the geometric relationship of space and time), he understood the first limitation of especial relativity is ignoring changes over time. Because in especial relativity, only the curvature of the space was considered. Therefore, tensor calculations should be to...

A new satellite based test of Special and General Relativity is proposed. For the Michelson–Morley experiment we expect an improvement of at least three orders of magnitude, and for the Kennedy–Thorndike experiment an improvement of more than one order of magnitude. Furthermore, an improvement by two orders of the test of the universality of the gravitational red shift by comparison of an atomi...
متن کاملNew perspectives in testing the general relativistic Lense–Thirring effect
Testing the effects predicted by the General Theory of Relativity, in its linearized weak field and slow motion approximation, in the Solar System is difficult because they are very small. Among them the post-Newtonian gravitomagnetic Lense-Thirring effect, or dragging of the inertial frames, on the orbital motion of a test particle is very interesting and, up to now, there is not yet an undisp...
